"Potato is a favourite of the kids ", I have heard my friends saying this but this completely contradicts with my kids .If its potato then it has to be chips , wedges ..... halt a minute I haven't yet posted the recipes .so put down your searching shoes .
This particular curry goes well with poori or dosas or even chapati . Poori and this combo is my personal favourite Its a favourite of Lil z and his father ( Z) too .Every other day when I ask him
" what do you want for your lunch box "?. He comes up with this .Its an easy dish with minimal ingredients and fast to churn .
Besan is added to give a thick consistency to the curry.
And now over to the recipe .......

- 3 onions
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- hing a pinch (asafoetida)
- 3 tbsp oil
- coriander a few leaves
- 2 green chillies
- 2 sprigs curry leaves
- 3 tsp besan (gram flour)+ 1/2 cup water
- Salt to taste
METHOD
- Chop onion and potato . In a pressure cooker add oil .
- Now add mustard seeds to oil and let it splutter .
- Add onions to it and stir it for 1 mint .
- Now add turmeric , potato ,hing, salt ,curry leaves and give a stir .
- Pour water 1 inch above the curry and pressure cook on high for 1 whistle and reduce the flame to medium and cook for 2 whistles.
- Allow the pressure to leave by itself,
- Open the cooker press the onions with the back side of your spoon to form a curry .
- Add in coriander and green chillies .
- Mix in besan and water to make a slurry.
- Add the above mixture to the curry and bring a boil .
- Simmer the flame and allow to cook for 5 mints .
- Now the curry will be reached to a thicker consistency .
.........HAPPY COOKING
NOTES
- You can just cook it on stove top in a pan too ,I have used cooker to speed en up the process .
- If your curry thickens too much add some water to loosen it .
- If you don't like besan skip it .
