Shakshuka |How to make shakshuka from scratch

Hello every one .Hope you all are doing well .After a holiday I am back to the grind.Hope you all have enjoyed the scheduled posts.Today's post is an Arabic classic breakfast - S H A K S H U K A.A tongue twister indeed.Shakshuka is one of the commonly available breakfast here apart from falafel ,hummus ,foul.

Shakshuka is believed to have originated in ottoman empire and travelled all through the middle east .What is shakshuka? In simple terms it is poached eggs on a bed of caramelised onions ,tomatoes and peppers. You can use red and green peppers both or just any one of them according to the availability and taste .Choose the not so tart tomatoes that are deep red in colour.Shakshuka is comfort food for the Arabs. An easy breakfast option that can be made in a jiff and is a bliss if served with warm khubz/challah bread/Egyptian bread. Feel free to use the eggs as you wish ,as I was the one for the breakfast I went with only 2 eggs.

I think I am addicted to light .Bright morning sun rays made this red beauty much beautiful isn't it?

Here's some play with the sunlight hope you all like it .

  1. Welcome back sister! I have seen the very same looking Shakshuka all over the internet but never had it served like this anywhere I had. Looks beautiful Nusrath, the light, colour, all the additional bowls and that olive oil bottle (I have the same with the label) So I really wonder why the difference. We always order from a Yemeni place and Damascus place and they give a bowl which has egg scrambled in the tomato and onion thingy similar to burji. Be thankful for the sunlight.. I get that kind only in my washroom! :-D

  4. I have been dreaming shakshooka for long but before I could do it, my vegan diet came in, so it is still pending... :( Love the ray of sunshine falling on the food... I get this light more on Rasha's bed and she literally gets irritated when I have my board and food on top of it... ;)
