Strawberry cobbler

This month for the Muslim bloggers challenge we were assigned "cooking from the scrap book".I had missed the last months challenge due to illness. For the newbies who want to know about what MFB is please have a look at the previous challenges here and here.During the pre-Internet days when I landed in this oryxland(Qatar) television was the only source of knowledge available regarding cooking.Unlike now, where we have 24 hours food and travel channels there were only 2 Hindi cooking shows aired on Sundays and I would get glued to the television for that half an hour.

I had maintained and still continue a scrap book where I note the recipes that catch my attention. One such recipe was this cobbler .The name was so fancy that it caught my attention. That was a baking recipe and I had no oven at that time.Though I bought my oven very soon this recipe got buried under the recipes piled in the scrapbook. When I was going through the scrapbook I realised I haven't tried it even once .What better way than this challenge to try it?

What is a cobbler? You can call it a cross between a cake and a pudding. If the cake and pudding would have a son then it would have been a cobbler-The features of a cake and the characteristics of a pudding. Here is the article from The kitchn  where you can clearly under stand the difference. The added bonus is that this is egg less ,not high on butter plus makes a good choice for make ahead desserts.Just warm it before serving and I wouldn't mind a bigggg scoop of vanilla ice cream .Come on gear up the oven is calling you and the strawberries would happily sacrifice themselves for such a delectable one pot bake!!
