Orange pudding

With kids lazying around with their winter break every day is a holiday, and everyday  there should be a novelty to please them .I think its me who is to be blamed to spoil the kids by serving them every time with a novelty that they always expect a different variety .
But I always enjoy a challenge .I think I am a  person who works better under pressure.During holidays I am under 24 hr shift so I usually prefer and look around for some variations that involve minimal muscle and ingredients .
With winters around markets are flooded with the winter produce .The best things about winter .....that I love is the winter fruits and veggies be it oranges or berries , root veggies, leafies  with their bright colour always lures me .
Paid a visit to the farmers market and was back with a overload of the fruits and veggies .These cute mandarins are apart of it .
I have started playing around with gelatin which I have used for   chocolate mousse rainbow cake   .
We usually see packed puddings like this in the supermarket ,so following my guess work tried it and was successful . I have seen my grandma using china grass/ agar agar to make milk pudding ,followed the same .....but substituted with gelatin ..
here goes the recipe.......

INGREDIENTS

  • 2- 3 oranges
  • 500 ml milk
  • 10 gms gelatin
  • 3-4 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp water

METHOD

  1. Add gelatin to 3 tbsp of cold water and leave it to  bloom for 3-4 mints.
  2. Microwave it for 30 secs in a glass bowl  ,allow it to cool completely .
  3. Boil milk and add in sugar and stir it .
  4. Peel the oranges and remove the pulp of it discarding seeds .
  5. Place the orange pulp in the mould/ bowl / ramekins in which you are going to set the pudding.
  6. I have used silicone mould for it ,you can do the same .
  7. Add gelatin to milk,  stir  it until it dissolves in it.
  8. Pour it in the moulds and allow it to set for 4-5 hrs .
  9. Your orange pudding is ready  ........

NOTES

  1. Step 1 step 2 are the key to successful pudding .
  2. Stir in the gelatin until it dissolves completely .
  3. You can add sugar as per the tartness or sweetness of oranges.
