How to make eggless noodles from scratch | Whole wheat noodles | Healthy noodles|Kids friendly

After a 3 month long vacations finally I am back to blogging .Celebrating Eid with family is definitely one of the most joyous moment of life. And now the kids too are back to school. This was the post prior to vacations but couldn't post it due to tight schedule .

Any ways better late than never .When Maggi was banned in India Me too was scared to buy it Though here I prefer Indonesian  instant noodles which are free from MSG ,but still as a mother i was concerned .My mother used to say that during their childhood there were no noodles introduced in India. If ever they wanted some thing different to eat ,then my granny would serve them home made pasta made from chapati dough .And they would happily devour that delicious home made pasta. Granny used to cut in squares like the Dal dhokli ,but I have tried to cut it in the shape of noodles .

This whole wheat egg less noodles are easy to make and much more easier to slurp Adding veggies is optional but definitely adds colour as well nutrition to these noodles.

Over to the recipe.....

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 1tbsp +3 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato (big size )
  • capsicum
  • carrot
  • green peas
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1/ 2tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • salt as needed
  • 2 cups water

  • Knead a soft dough by  adding required water , a tsp of oil and 2 pinch of salt .

  • Rest the dough aside for 15 minutes.

  • All the dry spices are ready do dive in .

  •  Chop onion ,tomato and desired veggies.

  • Roll the dough into a thin chapati. P.N .thinner you roll  the chapati noodles will be thinner .

  • Using pizza cutter or a knife cut the chapati into thin strips as noodles.

  • Dust an aluminium foil or a big plate or a news paper with generous flour .

  • Place the noodles on the foil and dust with generous flour so that they don't stick to each other Don't worry if the flour is excess it will contribute to the thickness of the noodle soup .

  • Heat oil in a pan or kadhai.

  • Add onions and saute until soft.

  • Next goes the tomatoes.

  • Cook it until soft and juicy.

  • Add desired veggies.

  • Add all the dry spices

  • Add  a little water cover and cook until the peas are done .

  • Add water to this and bring to boil .Now drop in the noodles with the dusted  flour.

  • Cook it until the noodles are done .To check it remove it on a plate and press it with your fingers if it breaks then its done .

  • Your noodles are ready to be served .......
